Today I watched this vlog by Adrian and it goes in line with my previous blog about the distraction around the topic that the media is currently selling to the citizens.
What he focus on this video is a comparison between the number of people killed at the 9/11 and the number of people dying from starvation since then. The result is 65 700 000 people dying from starvation over the last 9 years. But considering that in the world there are people also dying from poverty related diseases, the number goes up to 50,000* of people needlessly dying PER DAY. So let's say in 10 years, we are talking about 182 500 000, compared to the almost 4000 victims of September 11th,
However, the media attention goes to Bin Laden...
As Adrien says, people have the need to point the finger at someone. Citizens are now projecting their anger towards one person and that seems to be releasing and quite easy... But it is not real. People are doing exactly what they are told to do by the media/governments and they feel they are doing the right thing.
Regarding starvation, who should we point the finger at?
Errr... after all, we are not that well informed.
On the comments section, we can see a cool comment about this scapegoat phenomena:
Starvation happens everyday, 365 days per year, 24 hours per day. We have had this for enough centuries to see that it won't stop, unless WE, as humanity, STOP accepting such eco-no-me. If we continue with this economic system we know already what to expect: inequality, injustice, corruption, have and have-nots, incertainty, violence, insecurity, distrust, manipulation, happiness vs depression, stress, abortions (considering the cases where people decide to do it because they cannot afford to give a good life for the children), human traffic, and the list goes on and on.
If one wants to read about the consequences of such a man-made-mad-economic-system, you just need to open a newspaper, really.
There is no point in finding excuses or blaming anyone else besides each one of us - to realise that we are all responsible, since we, as humanity, are still accept this current survival system.
If we want to finally read about solutions, then it is time to read about http://equalmoney.org
The total disregard for our fellow human life and for all the other species of life on Earth is utter insanity.
to add - sinec 11th sep, 2 trilion dollar was spent for war - imagine how many people that money could feed?
